I’ve been learning more and more about detergent sheets as I’ve been seeing them all over TikTok and popping up in my Insta feed.

Ok, so this one is really a tie. Both have pros and cons that are listed below. I found that both get my clothes equally as clean.

While this may not be the most popular opinion, I don’t find that much of a difference in using detergent sheets vs traditional laundry pods (like Tide Pods). For me, the biggest difference is the eco-friendly aspect and the overall cleaning of heavily soiled clothes. Here’s a bit of a breakdown.

In terms of effectiveness, both detergent sheets and traditional detergent pods are designed to clean your clothes effectively. This we know. However, some reviewers commented (on sites like Amazon) that detergent sheets may not work as well on heavily soiled items, while others find that detergent pods can leave residue or not dissolve completely in the washing machine. Not dissolving completely has certainly happened to me, but mainly when I fill the washing machine with too many clothes or extra bulky items (comforters, sheets, towels, etc).

When it comes to eco-friendliness, both detergent sheets and pods have their advantages and disadvantages. Some detergent sheets are made with natural and biodegradable ingredients, which can make them a more sustainable option. However, traditional detergent pods are often packaged in recyclable materials and can be more widely available in stores.

Also, the cost can certainly be a factor to consider. Detergent sheets are generally more expensive per load than traditional detergent pods, although this can vary depending on the brand and the specific product.
